Red Mountain Olive ranch, located in Fallbrook California, grew out of the ashes of the Rice Canyon Fire in 2007. The destruction was immense and all around the county people were struggling to comprehend their losses. We lost our avocado grove and considered ourselves lucky to have only relatively minor damage to our home. But we knew, even then, that we were blessed with a chance for a new beginning. Now was the time to replant and start the healing process.
Over one hundred years before the fire, Red Mountain flourished with olives and oil. We were fascinated with the idea and story of new California olive oil production. We found ourselves tasting and investigating our way through the olive groves of these adventurous old and new California producers. Was it time for olives to return to Red Mountain?
We believe the key to good oil is the trees themselves. They must be of exceptional quality. While we enjoyed the oil produced by DaVero™, we especially liked the rich heritage of their ancient groves coming to California. Our trees are grown from DaVero™ cuttings” but our oil is its own; due to North San Diego County soils, climate and conditions.
Olive trees are now back on Red Mountain, and it is our sincere hope that you enjoy the full flavor and pleasant peppery bite of our hand-picked, locally grown and pressed Tuscan varietal Olive oil.
Dio benedica la raccolta delle olive! God bless the olive harvest!
